Process Statement

My paintings represent an ongoing interest in the reflection of light on or through objects

Goldwork series

This work is made from all recycled materials.

Levity and Gravity series

The painting support is a fabric that is used to manufacture airplanes. I discovered it when I was exploring various sheer fabrics. The surface is stained with a light wash of acrylics. The white square and frame are visable in each painting because of the translucency of the fabric and the light stain of paint. A white mat board is attached to the back of each painting so that the painting is not dependent on a white wall for the effect.

Moonlit series

In the Moonlit series I-IV each painting consists of three sections mounted on clear corrugated clear twinwall polycarbonate. A smaller piece of the twinwall is layered on the top incasing the natural materials. Each painting contains three sections:
1. 9” x 39” acrylic painting on corrugated paper and wood.
2. 24” x 24” acrylic painting on sheer aircraft fabric.
3. Natural materials are lunaria annua (dollar bush), quercus galls (from oak tree), and magnolia tree leaf skeletons.
