Moonlit

This series multiplies and overlaps three distinct elements of my work—materials, light, and surface—to create new planes of being and perception.

During sleeplessness one night at a relative’s home, I was soothed by the moonlight as its beams streamed into the bedroom. I was later inspired to paint that moon glow with various media, and to collect fallen flora—lunaria annua, quercus galls, and magnolia leaf skeletons—from walks in their yard and beyond.

These pieces loosely refer to the four seasons and the four quarters of the moon’s phases, acknowledging the constancy of life’s cycles through birth, death, and renewal.
